Pelvic health for men: four signs worth discussing

Pelvic-floor concerns are not limited to women. Here are common reasons men seek assessment and support.

Men have pelvic floors too

The male pelvic floor contributes to bladder and bowel control, sexual function and support during movement. Problems may appear after surgery, alongside pelvic pain, during changes in sexual function or without one obvious trigger.

Symptoms to bring to a consultation

A symptom does not tell the whole story, but it is a useful reason to start a conversation. An assessment looks at the pattern and possible contributors rather than assuming the same cause for everyone.

  • urine leakage or urgency
  • pelvic, groin or genital pain
  • changes in erection, ejaculation or stamina
  • difficulty coordinating the pelvic floor after surgery

The plan should match the findings

More strengthening is not always the answer. Depending on the assessment, support may focus on relaxation, coordination, movement, habits, strength or collaboration with a medical professional.
